Do "If You Gotta Go, Go Now" by Bob Dylan:
"It ain't that I'm wantin' anything you never gave before
It's just that I'll be sleeping soon and it'll be too dark for you to find the door
So if you gotta go, that's all right
But if you gotta go, go now, or else ya gotta stay all night."

That's so romantic it gives me chills. Chicks just melt for it. Gets them every time.

    Honest.

Agree. Don't get too sentimental if it's fairly fresh. I find the ladies are a lot more attracted when you rock out in front of them. I'll play something like Drown by the Smashing Pumpkins which starts off quiet, then turns into walls of distortion and a super -energized chorus. Then I just giv'er!!! Don't even acknowledge she's there while you're playing though, it'll throw you off if you're wondering what she's thinking, or if you become self-conscious. Just get right into it and then wait for the love to rain down. ...and by love I mean: "Aw, that's so cool. You were concentrating so hard. Come sit over here big boy and let mama bear give you a massage to relax your aching muscles from all that hard work!".........Works every time!

I don't think the average girl would be more impressed with the technique than the message. You know? It's not like she's going to say "beautiful arpeggio at the end!"

Most women are all about lyrics. I'd say your best bet is to play something moderately impressive on the guitar and focus more on the lyrics. Get a good, perhaps personalized message across. If you cover something, there could be that vague sense in the back of her mind "Was that song for me or was he just showing off?" Although as said, showing off a little rather than busting out some (possibly cheesy) love song might work. Personally I don't like to beat around the bush too much.

If you can honestly tell her you wrote it I think it would knock it out of the park. And I didn't mean that in the "rounding home plate" kind of way.

    Just my opinion.
