    for a change...

think about this for a second...

what would you do if you were not playing guitar?

we are putting so much time and power into the thing we obviously love: making music and playing guitar (well, most of us).
so what would you do with all that spare time you would have? how would you express yourself? would you have different goals in life? what would be worth to completely get obsessed with? do you think you would be a different person?

i'd really like to know what everybody thinks about that, so reply !

    Three letters: RPG

I still reminisce about slaying Vampires and Dragon Lords with my Hobbit Rouge in Angband

I'd also probably work more...and get back into the WC3 clan I was in..I may even get a friend or two just for kicks.

    Oh...I'd also pursue Ufology.

Okay...asuming for the sake of the thread that I would not be into any kind of music, I think I would be either writing or drawing. Two other passions I have and wish I had more time for. It sucks because as a teenager I used to spend so much time on these two things, but have to set aside time for it now as an adult. I used to crank out stuff, I wrote three novels by the time I was 18! (never said they were good) and used to have my bedroom walls covered in drawings. *sigh* I suck. Gotta get back into that stuff. I am writing these days when I have a chance, (I actually have two novels on the go at once! but I don't get to work on them often so it takes longer and is frustrating.
There really should be more days in a week.

Phantom, you never said what you would do? Common, now...share...

Nah seriously...umm Im what youd call an ALLogist. Im into everything, certified diver, getting my pilot license, love learning new languages, I absolutely looooove to travel around the world, studied martial arts for many years, like doing stuff for good causes.

So if i didnt have music, id probablly sit and wonder about all the things Id rather be doing

I'd definitly spend more time working out. Being married, working full time, and with a child on the way I'm lucky to have time to practice 30 minutes a night, though I splurge and hit an hour on Saturday.

I used to lift weights and play racketball very consistently in college. Now I have a 300 lb. universal weight set, bench, and smith machine in my basement collecting dust.

Secondly I agree with the above poster, I'd be RPGin it. I used to spend countless hours playing Asheron's Call (online role playing game) after I got married. Course that put a big strain on our marriage so it's good I'm not lost in that world any more

I'd probably write, I used to write when I was a teenager (who hasn't done that?) read a whole ton more, I'd invest a lot more time into working out, and I'd probably be a black belt (scary thought... a weight lifter black belt...) so yeah, I'd be hard on the outside and soft on the inside

....... hmmmm, what would I do ......?drugs -

Actually, I'm just comming of a 10 year hiatus from music (hasn't been quite a year). During those years, I didn't pursue anything particularly interesting. I focused on my job, my home and hangin' with friends.

In my younger days, I was very much into sketching, poetry/writing, music and RPG's ! (yeah, baby- Dungeons & Dragons, this was before the internet).

.......So, if it weren't for music, I think I'd be just another, pathetic sheep with too much time on my hands and too many bottles to empty - -

    ......or, maybe a porn star
