Oh I knew you meant no offense! You've got the greatest reasons there are for selecting or preferring the instrument!

I spent so much time listening to music that I had guitar solos going round in my head, and while listening to the music I'd be making up extra bits in my head or singing along (screeching along). I wanted to play guitar to contribute and intract with the music - it became very frustrating just to listen to the music.

Now what keeps me going is that thrill of playing along with music that I'm listening to, sometimes mimicking what I hear, sometimes just adding new things.

I apologize if I sounded like I felt you needed my approval--I truly didn't mean anything that way.

I started playing to get chicks... I had been playing for about 3 months, just kind of casually, and then Aug 5th 1986. I got hit by a truck crossing a busy road on my dirt-bike. Needless to say, I was pretty messed up, and pretty much bed-ridden for the next year. Guitar is all I did, for an entire year, 9-12 hours a day. If I hadnt had the instrument, I'd prolly have went insane. Anyways, it's been almost like a religeon ever since.

I play guitar because I know that one day I will be a famous guitar god. When I am a guitar god I will come back and say hello.

I have been writting lyrics since I was a teen, could never get together with anyone serious about persuing music so I started messing with keyboards and guitar to put music to my songs, ended up getting in trouble and had alot of time on my hands but no instruments so started reading everything I could get my hands on dealing with theory. For the most part I only did rythms and only in the last couple years have I developed a love for guitar leads and began persuing such.
Now I spend most of my life on the couch with a guitar straped on watching TV and annoying my wife while she plays everquest It's like no matter what modd I'm in once I get going I get happy and the guitar breeds alot of the enjoyment I have in life, It's like through it I can get out whatever I have inside that bothers me and I feel better.

To me, guitar is a physical extension to my soul. Not in a religous sense. I'm not very religous when it comes to guitar or learning guitar music. To me music is music no matter who makes it. I play guitar to help me cope with certain things going on in my life. When I can't play it, the things in life just pile up and kinda drive me crazy...lol.
