    changing to a relative tempo?

I am working on recording a track I wrote and it has a lot of time signature changes. This part I am stuck on changes from 4/4 to an irrational meter of (I think) 13/12 ( I cant even remember where i got the 12 from). The riff feels most natural and comfortable when counting to 13, and I figure the issue is that its a tempo change thats mathematically relative to the prior time signature. This has been killing my head for the past 24 hours, since I have absolutely zero natural abilities with math.

Soo, I am thinking I could maybe make the riff in 13/16 and than change the tempo so It aligns with the rest of the song, but I have no idea how to do this. Thats seems like its my only option.

BTW I am doing this to map out the time signature and tempo changes for the click track so I can record. Any help? thanks!

I am not sure I understand your question 100%, can you clarify a bit -

Do you want the measure of 13 notes to span the same duration of time as one measure of 4/4? Or something else?
