Thread: Acoustic or Electric

    Acoustic or Electric

I don't know about you guys but i dig the acoustic guitar alot more than the electric. It has a more earthy tone and you can take it anywhere with you.

Which do you enjoy more and why?

I do like the sound of acoustics and their portability, but you cannot reliably change the intonation for each individual string. This is important for me as I like to use a lot of strange tunings that mess with acoustic intonation. Setups are harder to do and sometimes irreversible such as filing bridge or nut to get lower action, etc.

I prefer electrics because of this.

I think it would be cool to have an acoustic with an electric style bridge.

I can't say I enjoy one more than the other, they are different rools for different jobs and I use them both in that respect really.

This guy tried to patent a design:

I guess someone beat him to the punch. There is a guitar maker on the market (Martin licensed some of their innovations) called BABICZ who makes what you're looking for. One of my students brought one in a while back, so I got to play it a bit. GREAT instrument. Adjustable neck, bridge....fantastic sound:

    Enjoy!

Electric is more forgiving. Much easier than the acoustic.

But at the same time every mistake you make is amplified on electric. On the acoustic you accidentally touch a string and not have your ears bleed lol.
