Well basically the verse goes E maj then C then G.

e----------0---------0-------0-------------0---------------------5p0--
B------3---------3---------3-----------3-----3---3--------3-----------
G----4---------4---------4-----------4---4-----4--------0---0---------
D--2-----2---2-----2---2------------------------------4-------4-------
A------------------------------0-2-3----------------------------------
E--------------------------------------------------3------------------

All the same note values, done pretty fast.

And i dont know where to go next, i was thinking about modulating to A maj or G lydian but im really stuck for any ideas, even if ou suggested a couple of progressions would be nice.

Any help?

try singing what 'sounds like' should come next. than transpose those ideas to the fretboard one note at a time.. hopefully you'll be able to feel out what other notes might be appropriate. figure out what it was that you 'heard' in your head, and analyze it afterwards if you want.

.02 cents max.

You asked for a progression.....

I was messing around with I Got Rhythm and really like the progression, see if it takes you anywhere.

G - Am7 - D7 - G - Am7 - D7

G - G7 - C - Cm - G - D7 - G - D7 to repeat or just end on G

I really like the G to G7 then C to Cm and back to G.
I also liked the Am7 instead of just a bland Am.

Fretboard Logic III talkes about using iii - vi as a substitute for I and making them iii7 - vi7 there may be a place for Bm7 - Em7 somewhere in your progression........

As far as I can see, you don't seem to have any E major chord there. In fact you haven't got any third in relation to E in that first part. Based on the chords following it, I would suggest, and I would probaly hear it, as an Eminor chord.

We then have:

Em C G

You could use the G to move to Emajor and then modulating to Aminor.

Em C G E
Am Dm C G

I've added Am Dm C and G returning back again to the Em.

I'll try it out when I get home.

Yeah sorry about that, this is just one guitar but some of the other layers use the G#. I was going to post just the chords but i wanted to show the rhythm and stuff so i thought id just tab out the guitar. It should be Em really but i love using false relations...

Thanks a lot, ill try all of these out...

Ah! you didn't give me the full picture ;)

Trying to hide what you've come up with eh? :P

Emaj Cmaj7 Gmaj7 is really nice. Got a chromatic third movement from the Emaj to the Cmaj7 there which is neat.

I'll try out some more things with this in my head when I get the chance.

Something comes to mind:

Emaj Cmaj7 Gmaj7 Dmaj7
Emaj E7 Amaj7 B7?

This will give a kind of rising, antibackcycling until you reach the V-I in Amaj, which in turn becomes a IV in Emajor having a full cadence back to the Emaj with the B7.

It could work :p

*so damn many possibilites*
