I'm thinking about changing my EMG pick-ups on my bass. Since EMG makes it easy to change your pick-ups I wonder if you could change from EMG-HZ for a 5-string to higher quality EMG's. So basicly I want to change my lower quality EMG's to get better ones to pump out a better sound. I also don't want to go through all the stress of taking everything out to change pick-ups. This is my first time tryin to change my basses electronics to any advise is good. Also any tips from experience on how to change your pick-ups would be great.

Hello Serge ,
EMGs are Generally good to begin with . Hows your Pre Amp ?
There's so much tone Difference with different pre amps .

I have a 210 Watt RMS Peavey Mark IV , single channel , with no pre amp , and what i did was use a Chandler Tube overdrive to Pre Amp it , It's louder for one thing , and it has a bit of Gain to make the over all tone sound Bigger .

I m going for that , Low octave of a Piano Bass sound , you know ?

I'm sure i could use a more versitile Pre Amp , but now i'm adding an Extention Cabnet , a Peavey Black widow 15" er . So that 'll be 3 15s now . You can never have enough speakers , you Know?? Just ask Geezer. http://www.ibreathemusic.com/forums/images/icons/icon4.gif
