Simple, down-to-earth version of 'Autumn Leaves'? I want something of a reference.

Never heard of that tune, but www.powertabs.net has two tabs of a song with that title.

for audio, I personally prefer to listen to vocal versions of jazz standarts like "autumn leaves". you might check out versions by Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Dean Martin or Diana Krall.
I think this is the best way to get the basic idea of those songs.

...also, Mel Torme recorded it very up-tempo, which was fun. I'd just do web search such as with Google with song and artist name.
