yup Eric, that was sad news to hear but he did have an amazing career. try and get a hold of his cover for Hurt from NIN (man thats bad grammar), it absolutely kills me, his weary voice and all, Cash rocked.

I recently heard "hurt" and it was very good. It was one of those songs where you felt shivers and it depressed the heck out of you.

johnny cash was my first concert w/ my grandfather. Because of that his death "hits home" w/ me. The man in black deserves every bit of credit he recieves....and more. Warm regards to his family friends and fans.

Sad day for sure, rest in peace Johnny. At least he can be with his wife again (if you believe in that sort of thing anyway).

Last night, on TV, I saw some kind of unplugged performance by Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson.
They sat on a small stage and played their songs... together. Also, in between songs, they talked a bit, made jokes, told stories about the origins of those songs.
Very cool stuff... two great singers, very entertaining show.
I also saw the video-clip of "Hurt" the first time ( I usually donīt watch TV, but Iīm at a friends house right now ), and man... it gave me goosebumps. Very intense

The original version of the song ( on the "Downward Spiral" album by NIN ) is quite beautiful and moving to, but somehow I prefer Cashīs version... that VOICE singing those LYRICS !
Warm regards

Regarding JC`s singing, i heard on the radio Chris Cornell was talking about an old soundgarden song JC had covered. He said the song was pretty old, and not very succesful, but after hearing JC`s version all his friends called him up to say, "wow chris , kickass lyrics" Johnny Cash could certainly bring songs alive.

"Hurt" was the most emotionally moving video I've seen in a long while. Thanks for the link, Eric.
