This is going to be ridiculously over simplified and inadequate, but one way, over a iim7- V7 tumbao would be to voice a major 3rd w/ your right hand and with your left hand alternate between a fourth and a tri-tone lower. i.e. if the piece is in C, and the tumbao goes Dm7 to G7, hit C-FA-B-FA-C-FA-B-FA in the ubiquitous two-bar rhythm Q E Q Q Q Q Q Q E. You could even through the E into the RH if you want to get fancy and can three stick it.

You can also play a more macabre i-iv-V-iv montuno w/ two sticks by voicing everything as a 10th within a harmonic minor scale. Not sure how to post music on here, or I could illustrate better. :) If you practice harmonic minor scales and some arpeggios voiced at the tenth, you'd get it.
