Great article man!

The solfege technique has really helped me sing out some of my musical ideas while I play. Up until recently I just kind of grunted in rhythm, I guess that's a byproduct of singing death metal for a few years.. lol.. It has also helped when reading a lead sheet for the first time. I'll have to practice the chromatics some more so I can handle some of those Thelonious Monk tunes... hehe..
Anyways, great stuff man, and the Smoke on the Water melody was a cool surprise.

Hi Wyll,

Thanks for the feedback - it's great to hear that you can put Solfege to some use for yourself.

And yep: Smoke on the Water :-) - again this was one of my rememberable solfege eperiences.... I didn't listen for that tune in ages - well, I had 4 years or so of solfege/eartraining behind me when I heard it again - and it felt quite cool when hearing this riff and my brain just spit out the syllables :-)

Very Cool (now that I've read it ) as always :)
I think the Focus group is a fine Idea
(since it's a Focus group does that means we get to sing Hocus Pocus :) )
