How do I figure out what Chord progressions go with what mode?

I want to figure out how to find chord progressions to go with each mode. Lets say Dorian, or aeolian, or lydian, ionian, etc. Thanks.

    Hey there,

Modal progressions are often a one or two chord "vamps" (rhythmic acompaniments). Here are some and the scales I like to play over them:

    Em7 - FMaj7#11 (E Phrygian)
    CMaj7-DMajadd9 (C Lydian)
    Am7-D7 (A Dorian)
    Gm-Eb (G Aeolian)
C7 - F (C Mixolydian... this one is more of a fragment of a chord
progression... hey you can always use Mixo for the blues)

Also check Chris J's Improvisation chart (is somewhere in here and also in his site) He has AWESOME stuff in there, enough to last you a lifetime I've been working on it for almost 3 years now and I am still nowhere near done.

I am sure the other guys (wiser than me) will expand on this.

    Good luck
